This April, Birchbox have done the most gorgeous collaboration with fabulous fashion brand Boden for this month’s ‘The Bold and The Beautiful‘ themed box. The popular draw style box has made a stylish return after last months ‘back to beginnings’ theme and the design itself just screams spring time and happiness. The cheerful, floral pattern looks absolutely stunning and it’s certainly earned itself pride of place on my dressing table. This month’s box includes not one but two makeup treats along with other birchbox goodies and subscribers were also offered the opportunity to upgrade their box to include a stylish Boden card wallet featuring April’s box pattern.
Boden Leather Card Wallet
I just could not resist upgrading my box this month when birchbox announced that they were offering such a stylish Boden leather card wallet worth £15.00 for a discounted price of £8.00 for subscribers. The card walett features April’s eye catching, floral box pattern and is perfect to use for a travel pass or to store cards, vouchers etc inside. It feels super high quality and makes the most stunning yet practical accessory for the spring season.
Manna Kadar Cosmetics – High Definition Powder
Last month, subscribers were given the opportunity to pick one of two Manna Kadar full size makeup goodies. The choice was between a HD powder and a bronzer/highlighter duo. I really couldn’t decide which one I wanted to go for but in the end I opted for the powder because I needed a good translucent finishing powder any way so I thought why not try this one. I have to admit to you guys, when I first opened up my box and saw the powder, it was a little smaller than I was actually expecting. Think more of an ‘eyeshadow’ sort of pan size rather than your typical, average powder sized pan. The actual product is great though so it’s a shame their isn’t more of it to enjoy. This is basically a translucent finishing powder that aims to keep your freshly applied makeup in place all through the day. The product gave me a flawless mattified look that literally lasted from morning though to the evening so it has some wonderful lasting power. I’ve also been experimenting recently with ‘baking’ which for those of you who don’t know is a makeup technique thats been around for a while but has recently gained a lot more popularity. The Baking technique is used to brighten under the eyes, the bridge of the nose etc. This can be achieved by dipping a damp sponge into translucent powder and applying it to the desired areas, then leave it for a few minutes and dust away the excess powder to achieve a flawless finish. The Manna Kadar HD powder works great to do Baking with and I’m still learning but I’ve been super impressed with it so far. Overall I love this product, I think it’s a fantastic addition to anyone’s makeup bag but unfortunately I just don’t love the size.
ModelCo Eye Define Crayon Liner
This is a fabulous crayon style, twist up eyeliner by ModelCo that boasts easy application, amazing pigmentation and super long lasting power. I actually adore this eyeliner pencil and the product is so easily bendable too so it’s been really fun to experiment with. The shade of the pencil is really black which I personally like, this is because some black eyeliner pencils can look a little washed out or greyish when applied. The product is super pigmented and glides on with ease so there isn’t any pulling like you get with some pencils. I really love using this in my makeup routine, I’ve found it to be a useful little gem and I’ll certainly be buying another one when this one runs out.
Baïja Paris Crème Moana in Fleur de Tiarè
This is a beautifully nourishing body moisturiser with the most gorgeous, exotic aroma. It’s not too thick and cakey like some moisturising products on the market and although it is fragranced, it hasn’t caused any irritation for me by using it. The smell lasts for hours and it’s become a new favourite for me to use after a soak in the bath. If you regularly read my blog, you’ll know how much of a sucker I am for anything that smells amazing so there is no doubt that this product has been a winner for me. This product packs in some fabulous ingredients to sooth and nourish your skin including, coconut oil, shea butter and jojoba wax so it will be great to prep your skin for the more summery months. I adore the floral bottle design, it really brings on that summer feeling for me and I think this moisturiser would make a brilliant gift for someone.
Polaar IcePure Gentle Scrub with Arctic Cotton
This is a gentle facial scrub by Polaar which boasts to include Arctic Cotton as a powerful, effective ingredient in a gentle formula that is even suitable for sensitive skin types. I’m not usually a fan of using facial exfoliating products, I find they irritate my skin and cause redness after use. I tend to opt for mask exfoliating at the moment which involves massaging a clay based mask into the skin to gently soak up my skins impurities and debris. I did receive this in my box though so thought why not give it a try and I was in fact pleasantly surprised. The product has a lovely sweet smell to it, it’s a creamy consistency and you only need a small amount to do your whole face. I found it didn’t cause much redness if any at all and felt like a really nice, gentle facial scrub for me to use on my sensitive skin. It’s perfect for use one or two times a week and it left my skin feeling lovely and soft afterwards so I have to say I was really impressed with how good it turned out to be.
Luseta Beauty Keratin Smooth Conditioner
This nourishing Keratin Conditioner by Leseta Beauty claims to tame frizz and strengthen your hair strand by strand from the inside out. Keratin protein has been infused into the formula of this hair conditioning product to restore, condition and smooth your hair to achieve gorgeous, healthy looking locks. This box is full of beautifully scented products this month and this Keratin Conditioner is no exception. It smells gorgeous and left my hair feeling soft, shiny, healthy and also my hair seemed a lot more manageable when it came to styling. My hair has been in the worst condition lately so it was nice to find something to work it’s magic on my dry, tired hair and give it a healthy boost.
This month’s fabulous birchbox in collaboration with Boden has certainly left me feeling ready for summer with its stylish floral theme. The products packed inside have all worked out really well for me and they have some gorgeous, sweet summery smells too! The box even included a £10.00 voucher for subscribers to spend on Boden’s website so we can get summer ready in style. Apart from the smaller than expected size of the HD powder by Manna Kadar, I’ve been super impressed with April’s box of beauty goodies and I can’t wait to see what next month’s box has in store.
