Its the countdown to Valentines Day.
Everyone wants to look their best on the yearly day of sweet sweet love known as Valentines Day. Makeup gives us confidence in our own skin and can be used to create some serious artistic beauty. I’ve been busy having a play with my forever growing stash of makeup and I’ve come up with my own valentines inspired look.
I wanted my eyes to be bold but also elegant, so I opted for some orange and warm brown shimmers. I used my bareminerals eyecolour collection to create this because I love the pigment in their shadows and how silky they feel on the delicate skin around my eyes. You could use any good quality warm toned oranges and browns to create this look though, its just all about the warmth and the shimmer with this one. I used an orangey colour with coral tones mixed in as my base colour and then I gradually built up the colour on the wings of my shadow look. I then added some warm, shimmer golden browns to really give my eyes that firey glow I was looking to achieve. I lined my lash line with my deep brown Younique eyeliner pencil in shade proper and combed my lashes in my favourite mascara at the moment – Benefit they’re real.
I used a matte medium brown shadow to fill in my eyebrows and add definition. I like to start at the outer edges of my brows and work my way inwards, that’s just the way it works for me but some of you probably have your own eyebrow defining techniques. I used a shimmery champagne coloured eyeshadow out of my Younique Moodstruck palette 4 to highlight underneath my brow arch.
Contour & Highlight
I used my NYX contour and highlight pro palette to contour and highlight my facial features. I used the shimmery highlighter on my cheekbones and cupids bow. I used a more suttle highlighter shade to do my forhead and tip of my chin. I contoured the underside of my cheekbones, sides of my nose and jawline with the warmer matte brown shades from the palette. I chose the warmer tones to contour with because my look was all about achieveing warmth and glow.
I didn’t go for your usual valentines red or pink colour options for my lips, I instead chose to go for a stone coloured look. I didnt have a stone coloured lipstick so i sort of improvised a little bit. I lined my lips with an elizabeth arden cocoa rose lip pencil and then coloured my lips in with that same pencil. I then applied my matte mac lipstick in shade honeylove over the top. Mixing these two colours together gave me my gorgeous matte stone lips with a hint of dirty pink – this really complimented the whole makeup look in my opinion.
